» help99 - cold sores transferring into genital herpes

I have just recently got the beggining signs of a cold sore last night or this morning, can't quite remember. It was very sore and itchy and red when i gave my boyfriend oral. It was around the time when a whitehead was forming. I am seeing a doctor in 4 days, but I am very anxious and I would like to know what the chances of him getting herpes is. Also, he gave me oral right after that. Will I get anything?

See your health care practiotner and discuss the matter!!!!

You should both be tested, but in an appropriate time frame. If too early,(during the incubation period) you can get a false negative result.

ALWAYS practice safe sex! During outbreaks abstinence is the safest sex. Don't take chances. You could both end up with genetal herpes.

Blood test can detect the type of the virus, HSV-1 or HSV-2. However, it won't tell you if the infection is oral or genital. So if you gave him HSV-1 though oral sex and he did not develop the symptoms, the test will detect the presence of infection and the type, but not the location.

Yes, there have been cases of oral herpes infecting genitals and vice versa. Best to be safe than sorry.
