Canada's Health Care System is the name of the publicly funded health care program for senior citizens. It is often referred to as Medicare.

The Canada Health Care System, or Medicare as it is also known, is a national health insurance program.

It is composed of the insurance plans from each of the 13 Canadian provinces and territories. These plans share common features and provide standards of coverage which make each plan eleigible for the public funding.

Each province or territory is responsible to oversee:

of the health care system to its residents.

The overall goal of the Canadian Health Care system (known as Health Canada which oversees the Medicare system) is to make Canadians among the healthiest people in the world. They believe that promotion of health and prevention of illness and disease can keep costs down and improve the quality of life for all citizens.
