It is also smart to ask for informational interviews. This may not land you a job immediately, but it will allow you to establish a rapport with important individuals in your field. When a job becomes available, you are more likely to be considered when you have done the necessary liaising. Don't worry about being a nuisance. We all start somewhere, and as long as it is done tastefully, persistence is attractive and necessary! ExerciseIt is true, exercise can lift your mood. When you get moving, your body releases endorphins, our body's natural pain killers, which make you feel happier. Exercise has also been linked to confidence and self efficacy. Exercising does not necessarily mean signing up at a gym. Enjoy a long walk with your dog or a friend every morning or evening. Weekly bike rides around the city or country-side will give you that fresh air boost you need to feel better. Spend time with Family and Revisit Your HobbiesTake advantage of your free time and do what makes you happy. Surrounding yourself with loved ones in tough times is your "chicken soup for the soul." Take advantage of the time you have off and spend it with your family and friends. Do things you have always wanted to do, but always felt that you did not have the time. You will feel as though you have accomplished something significant. VolunteerIf you cannot land a paid job at the company of your choice, the next best thing to do is volunteer. Work at your desired company, the more experience you have, the better. When more jobs become available, your foot will be right in the door. Another great alternative is to devote your time to an non-for-profit organization that's close to your heart. You will reap the benefits of structure that will be added back to your day. Make the best out of a bad situation. Accomplish more than just a daily desk job, build up your resume and take advantage of your freedom.
